Astro Explorer collects nothing about you. No account, no name, no email, no location, no analytics, no ads, no tracking of any kind.
Almost everything you do stays on your device. The one thing you can send out — an idea for what to build next — goes only when a grown-up taps send, and carries no name or identity. If a kid can safely use this app alone, we've done our job — and that was the whole point.
Astro Explorer is an educational solar-system exploration app built first for a young child, and grown for curious people of all ages. Because it was designed for kids from day one, it was also designed to be private from day one: the simplest way to protect your data is to never collect it, so we don't.
This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what the app does and does not do. It applies to the Astro Explorer iOS app and to this website.

Your exploration progress — such as which worlds you have visited and your explorer passport — is saved in the app's local storage on your device. It never leaves your device, we never see it, and deleting the app deletes it completely.
Astro Explorer works fully offline. The single exception is the daily discovery feed: a small page of space news and facts inside the app.
To refresh it, the app makes a plain, anonymous download (an HTTP GET request) of a static file — the same file for every user in the world. This request:
If you are offline, the app simply shows the last feed it fetched, with a visible date stamp. Apart from an idea you choose to send (below), nothing else in the app touches the network.
Astro Explorer lets explorers ask for what to build next. This is the one thing the app can send out, and it only ever happens when you choose to:
Sent ideas appear only as a simple wish-count on the in-app Builders Board (for example, “12 explorers want dinosaurs”). If you never send one, the app stays fully offline apart from the daily feed download above.
Facts in the app cite their sources (for example NASA fact sheets), and some feed items link to the original article. These links open in an in-app browser and only from clearly marked places. In Kid mode, source links are shown as plain text and are not tappable. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of external websites; their own policies apply once you leave the app.
Astro Explorer is made for families and is safe for children by construction: since the app collects no personal information from anyone, it collects no personal information from children. There are no accounts, no chat, no ads and no data collection to consent to. Kid mode additionally keeps external links un-tappable and gates deeper content behind a parent hold-gesture.
The app is distributed through Apple's App Store, and Apple may provide us with aggregated, anonymized download statistics under Apple's own privacy policy. That is between you and Apple; Astro Explorer itself sends nothing to anyone.
If the app ever changes in a way that affects privacy — for example, if a future version adds an optional online feature — this policy will be updated first, the effective date above will change, and the plain-language summary at the top will say clearly what changed. The current promise stands: the core of Astro Explorer will remain offline, account-free, ad-free and tracking-free.
